It was an 835 mile and two day drive through Tampa to Sugarloaf Key about 20 miles from Key West, Florida. We stayed overnight at a Walmart carpark at Tampa on the way down to the Keys.
It was a beautiful drive down through the Keys as the sun set around 8 pm that evening.
On the way we had seen alligators in the Everglade National Park.
And at the campgrounds set near mangroves, we saw this heron.
Mangroves behind our camping spot.
Plenty of choices for swimming – here in a roped off area of the Atlantic side of the Keys or in a swimming pool within the campground.
Dogs are definitely important members of families in the USA and even while on vacation they are well catered for.
Before we left the Keys we drove down to the furtherest point, Key West and then back up the Keys towards Miami in the early morning.
